Подобный вердикт стал результатом тяжбы, которую затеял 30-летний житель города Амсберг Александр Мехтхольд. Причиной же его иска стал отказ местных властей принять у него фотографии на паспорт, на которых Александр был запечатлен с высунутым языком. Администрация мотивировала это тем, что подобные "выходки" идут вразрез с законом.
Однако настойчивый любитель необычных фотографий решил отстаивать свои права в суде. После длительного разбирательства судьи пришли к выводу, что в Германии не существует законов, запрещающих фотографироваться на паспорт, показывая язык.
Таким образом, Мехтхольд одержал победу над несговорчивыми чиновниками и получил новые документы. В то же время ему пришлось дать подписку о том, что он проинформирован, что у него могут возникнуть проблемы при пересечении границы.
